香港から台湾への移住が急増し、 ８月に前年同月比54％増加 しているそうである。10/13 ロイター。 1997年にイギリスから中国に返還される前も香港からアメリカ、カナダへの移住が増加したと聞いた。2005年頃の話だが、友人など香港でバスを待っていた際、見知らぬ香港人から「日本人はいいわね。他の国に永住するということを考える必要がないんだから」と言われたそうである。
最近では、香港の方に聞くと高度な職はメインランドの人に取られ、不動産もメインランドの人や企業に買われて高騰、40㎡で家賃月額40～50万！、通勤1時間半かかるところに住まざるを得ないという。が、多くの富裕層は既に他国の永住権を持っているので心配ないとのこと。
心配なのはデモ参加者が先輩から強制されて中高生まで広がっていること、本気で参加している人は多くないという。確かに銃撃された2人は高校生と中学生だった。
台湾に住む外国人に「香港の次は台湾という危機感はないか」と尋ねると、香港と台湾は根本的に違う、という答え。海外から俯瞰するのと住んでいる立場での感じ方は違うかもしれない。
立場によりいろんな真実、感じ方があると思うが、この仕事の良いところはいろんな国の方に最新の意見を聞けることにもある。
